So I have decided to have a little fun. I am 27 days away from the London Marathon and getting ready to taper. For some reason I have been in a very contemplative running mood lately. Not sure what has triggered it but I am going to run with it.
For the next 10 days I will count down the “10 Reasons Why I Love Being a Runner.”
Starting with #10!!!
10. I can thoroughly enjoy my dessert.
Ok, so I know that running, or working out in general, is not a license to eat anything BUT I do take certain liberties especially when I am marathon training. My favorite post long-run dessert is the Oreo Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. Just a slice, not the whole cake! Some weeks you will find me indulging in ice cream from White Mountain or JP Licks. I try to mix it up!
When I am one week pre-marathon, I try to cut back on my sweets but there is no way I can go cold turkey so I buy the 110 calorie Twix. Then I eat two a day. I also put them in my race bag so I can have one after I finish. Most of the time I forget it is there. Eventually I find it and eat it.
It is very nice to be able to order dessert and enjoy it guilt free. If I didn’t run so much, I would probably have some guilt. So thank you running! I will have my cake and eat it too!
